Description

Bioscience Industry for Teachers (BIT)

BIT is a five-day program developed for biomedical or biotechnology teachers who wish to best incorporate industry culture and practices into their instruction. This opportunity focuses on foundational bioscience concepts and techniques in the context of working in the bio-industry. As a paradigm shift from teaching science as an academic endeavor, participants will rotate through departmental roles of a “company,” and learn how to augment course content with current Good Manufacturing Practices (cGMPs), and the industry perspective. Teachers are provided hands-on experience to gain meaningful and practical workplace applications that can be translated to students.

Industry experience will include the design, development, testing, and manufacture of a biopharmaceutical.  Participants will develop an understanding of departmental roles, and careers, as well as the criteria associated with working in this highly regulated environment.
