Description | General Bloodborne Pathogens Safety Training: This training is designed to ensure laboratory personnel understand their responsibilities to follow universal precautions and conduct safe work practices in compliance with OSHA’s Bloodborne Pathogens Standard 29 CFR 1910.1030*. Employees will be trained on the epidemiology, symptoms, and transmission of bloodborne diseases; safety requirements and Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) pertaining to bloodborne pathogens; the requirements of an Exposure Control Plan; and requirements of 29 CFR 1910.1030*. (Employer is responsible for meeting provisions of Section (f)“Hepatitis B vaccination and post-exposure evaluation and follow-up” and Appendix A to Section 1910.1030“Hepatitis B Vaccine Declination”. Training excludes provisions of Section (e) “HIV and HBV Research Laboratories and Production Facilities”.) Topics covered include, but are not limited to, the following:

Site-Specific Bloodborne Pathogens Safety Training is also available: This training incorporates customized curricula designed to ensure laboratory personnel understand their responsibilities to follow universal precautions and conduct safe work practices in compliance with your site-specific Exposure Control Plan (ECP) and OSHA’s Bloodborne Pathogens Standard 29 CFR 1910.1030*. Participants are trained on the epidemiology, symptoms, and transmission of bloodborne diseases; safety requirements and Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) pertaining to bloodborne pathogens; the requirements of your company’s Exposure Control Plan; and requirements of 29 CFR 1910.1030*. This training can be tailored to your company’s specific needs and conducted on-site or at the Biotility Education Center. Training time varies from three to four hours, depending upon the level of detail and hands-on activities requested. Training on provisions of Section (e) “HIV and HBV Research Laboratories and Production Facilities” is included upon request only. *Note: Employer is responsible for meeting provisions of Section (f)“Hepatitis B vaccination and post-exposure evaluation and follow-up” and Appendix A to Section 1910.1030“Hepatitis B Vaccine Declination”.
