COURSE DESCRIPTION

This course consists of online exercises, presentations, self-graded quizzes/tests and a final exam. The instructional materials will allow the student to understand the basic operation, maintenance and troubleshooting fundamentals of a community wastewater collection system. Topics include:

  • Operation and maintenance of sewer pipes
  • Clean-outs
  • Sewage pumping stations
  • Manholes
  • Safety.

Textbooks are included in registration fee. This course utilizes "Operation & Maintenance of Wastewater Collection Systems", Vol. I and II, CSUS Foundation. Textbooks will be shipped to you upon receipt of registration payment. Please allow 2-3 weeks for shipping. International shipments will be charged an additional fee. Please contact our office prior to registration for this information.


WHO SHOULD ATTEND

Anyone interested in gaining knowledge of operation and maintenance of a municipal wastewater collection system including owners, managers, supervisors, chief operators, shift operators, trainees, underground utility construction and maintenance workers. This course is for informational purposes only. There is currently no State of Florida or Federal requirement to be licensed in wastewater collection systems. Some states may require collection system operator licensing, however Florida does not. 
 

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

      Requirements for Online Courses:

  • You should be computer literate and familiar with PC-based systems to participate in the online courses
  • Prepayment is required before you will receive log-in information, including address and password
  • You must provide an email address at time of registration/payment
  • Courses must be completed within six months from your date of registration.
  • Certificate will be issued on the date you pass the final exam with 70% or higher.

System Requirements:

  • Pentium computer or comparable
  • Speakers and soundcard
  • Internet Connection – 28.8 minimum
  • Web browser – Netscape Navigator 4.0 or newer or Internet Explorer 4.0 or newer
  • Adobe Acrobat Reader 3.0 or higher (Download free from WebCT site.)

Accessing the course:

  • Student will receive course access email once the registration has been processed by our office during normal business hours.
  • If you are taking a refresher course, we will first verify your eligibility. Your registration might be placed on hold until this is completed. If you are not eligible to take a refresher based on our records, we will contact you.
