COURSE DESCRIPTION

This self-paced course meets the prerequisites of the Florida Department of Environmental Protection (FDEP) Operator Certification Program (OCP) for taking the Level 3 (entry level) and Level 2 (mid-level) Water Distribution System Operator state exam. This course consists of online exercises, presentations, self-graded quizzes/tests and a final exam. The instructional materials will allow the student to comprehend the basic operation, maintenance and troubleshooting fundamentals of a community water distribution system. Topics include:

  • Water storage facilities
  • Operation and maintenance of water mains and valves
  • Water quality issues
  • Troubleshooting
  • Disinfection
  • Safety   

The textbook is included in the registration fee. The textbook will be shipped to you upon receipt of registration payment. This course utilizes "Water Distribution System Operations and Maintenance", CSUS Foundation. Please allow 2-3 weeks for shipping. 

If you are eligible for CEUs for this course: You will be responsible for providing your license information at the completion of your course. We will provide confirmation once your information has been submitted.

WHO SHOULD ATTEND

Anyone interested in gaining knowledge of operation and maintenance of a community drinking water distribution system including owners, managers, supervisors, chief operators, shift operators, trainees, underground utility construction and maintenance workers. This course is approved to take the FDEP Level 3 (entry level) and Level 2 (mid-level) Water Distribution System Operator exam.  

Students, please be aware to qualify for the state exam you will need either a high school diploma or a Florida Department of Education approved GED.  Online GED's are not accepted by FDEP.
 

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

Requirements for Online Courses:

  • You should be computer literate and familiar with PC-based systems to participate in the online courses
  • Prepayment is required before you will receive log-in information, including address and password
  • You must provide an email address at time of registration/payment
  • Courses must be completed within six months from your date of registration.
  • Certificate will be issued on the date you pass the final exam. Students must sign up separately for the state Level 3 Exam. For more information about the state exam, go to the FDEP Website.

Accessing the course:

  • Student will receive course access email once the registration has been processed by our office during normal business hours.

Once the registration has been processed by our office, you can expect the following:

  • You'll receive an email with your username and password for this training.
  • Follow the link to get started.
  • You will need to type in your username and password as it is shown in your welcome email.
  • Make sure you save this email to access the course each time.
  • Keep in mind that you must pass each assignment with a score of 70% or greater, and then you'll be provided access to the final exam.
