Description | COURSE DESCRIPTION This course is designed for personnel who have accrued significant work experience and knowledge in the solid waste industry. This course is approved as refresher training for operators at Solid Waste Facilities. Topics include: Solid Waste Management Basics and Regulations, Environmental Concerns with Waste Handling Facilities, Screening for Prohibited Materials, Managing Special Wastes, Health and Safety, Compliance Inspections, Siting, Heavy Equipment, Transfer Station Operations/Layout, and Materials Recovery Facilities Operations and Layout. Daily morning and afternoon breaks are scheduled. On your own for lunch. Course is approved through June 2026
At the completion of the training the student should be able to understand the basics of:
Participants must be present for entire course to receive continuing education credit and a Certificate of Attendance. There is not an exam requirement associated with the in-person course. This course is Days 1&2, of the three-day course: Initial Training for Operators of Landfills and Waste Processing Facilities
