Description

This course is approved as initial training for Class I & III Landfills, C&D Operators and Transfer Station & Materials Recovery Facility Operators. It includes 2 Exams with a 70% proficiency. Topics include: Solid Waste and Landfill Basics, Environmental Concerns with Waste Handling Facilities, Screening for Prohibited Materials, Mapping Special Wastes, Landfill Construction, Basic Operation, Leachate Management, Gas Management, Groundwater Monitoring, Landfills Closure and Transfer Station Operations and Layout & Materials Recovery Facility Operations and Layout. 

Daily morning and afternoon breaks are scheduled. On your own for lunch.
Course Objective
At the completion of the training the student should be able to discuss the basics of solid waste & landfill operations; environmental concerns with waste handling facilities; screening for prohibited materials; mapping special waste; the fundamentals of landfill construction; gas management; groundwater monitoring issues with closed landfills. The students will also complete a final exam.
 
You must be in attendance for entire course to receive continuing education credit and a Certificate of Attendance.
All participants take the two exams:  TS/MRF - Day 2; Landfills - Day 3 and receive 2 seperate certificates.
 
Note - If you are needing continuing education credits to maintain your landfill operator training, you should probably take the refresher training (no exam).
