FlaWARN is offering a Functional Exercise (FE) focusing on Broward County Utilities. This exercise is based on the very successful functional exercise produced by the US EPA and HorsleyWitten in Palm Beach County last November.

The participating agencies assisting with the exercise are:

FlaWARN | Florida Rural Water Association | Broward County Emergency Management Division |Florida Department of Environment Protection | Broward County Public Health | Broward County Water/Wastewater Services | UF/TREEO

The purpose of the FE is to conduct a water sector-focused event that provides an opportunity to test emergency response capabilities, specifically but not limited to: communications, resource management, documentation, and mutual aid and assistance.

The objectives of the exercise are:

·         Test the capability of local and state emergency management agencies to coordinate requests for resources from the water sector during an emergency.

·         Test the capability of the water sector to provide mutual aid and assistance during an emergency.

Who Should Attend:

Broward County Utilities will be players and respond to a hurricane based scenario with multiple injects using WEB EOC and FlaWARN.

Other Florida Utilities will be observers and respond to Broward County utilities needs using FlaWARN and StormTracker.
