Description

COURSE DESCRIPTION

 
This “how-to” course will help the water or wastewater operator and mechanics to understand how centrifugal pumps operate and perform basic pump maintenance. Subjects covered include centrifugal pump theory, reading pump curves, normal maintenance requirements, replacement of packing, mechanical seals, impellers, wear rings and shaft sleeves.  You will receive the current edition of the popular Pumps and Pumping, the only comprehensive pump manual designed specifically for water and wastewater operations.

This class is for operators, mechanical maintenance personnel, supervisors and engineers of water and wastewater systems and regulators.

Glynn Stoffel, CET

Mr. Stoffel is a certified environmental trainer and consultant with extensive experience in maintaining and managing underground utility systems.  As a training consultant, he has delivered thousands of hours of training throughout the country on the safe operation, maintenance and construction of water, sewer and storm drain systems. His consulting services include distribution and collection system O&M program development and CMOM program management.  In addition to his work with the TREEO center, he conducts training for the Maryland Center for Environmental Training at the College of Southern Maryland and the Technology Transfer (T2) Center at the University of Maryland.  He has an AA in Civil Engineering Technology and a BS in Business Administration (Management) from the University of Baltimore.  The Board of Certified Safety Professionals recognizes him as a Certified Environmental Safety and Health Trainer (CET). He is also a Master instructor with NESHTA.

Phil Brown

Phil has been employed with the City of Jacksonville Beach for 26 years. He started with the city as a Lift Station Mechanic, was promoted to Plant Mechanic and is now the Water/Wastewater Superintendent. When Phil obtained his Wastewater C license he fell in love with the industry and continued his education until he received his Wastewater A license. Phillip also has a Bachelor’s of Arts degree in Leadership with a minor in Business. Phillip is happily married with five kids and five grandchildren. “When you love your job it’s no longer work anymore.”
