Description | One of the seven core elements of any effective Safety & Health program is Hazard Prevention & Control. This course will review ways of identifying and assessing hazards in the workplace. Time will be spent drawing some of the differences between fixed-site and construction-related operations. Once identified, participants will assess the potential of the hazards and determine exposures to develop a matrix that can be used to effectively address them. Providing controls to minimize existing hazards will be reviewed and weighed against long-term methods of preventing the hazards in the future. Looking at OSHA’s hierarchy of controls will provide a balance between short-term and long-term remedies. Determining a method of tracking action items and reviewing the effectiveness of interim protections and long-term controls will assure efforts achieve the desired effects. |
