Description

This course builds essential knowledge of building simulation and provides necessary background to use a building energy simulation software tool.  Using a case-study project, the course will provide the necessary know-how to build a building energy model and evaluate energy use.

Learning Objectives

Upon course completion, the attendee will be able to:

  • Recognize the importance of building energy modeling
  • Understand building energy tools, types and capabilities
  • Understand building energy codes, standards and guidelines
  • Define project objectives
  • Gather data
  • Specify baseline building
  • Construct models
  • Evaluate model results
  • Communicate analysis results

Course Duration

16 hours (2 days), lecture and hands-on workshop.

Course Tools

Software (eQuest), checklists, pre-processing tools, supplemental calculations, reading materials and case-studies.

Assessment

At the end of each training day, participants will take a short quiz. In order to pass this course, participants should score a minimum of 70%.

Instructor

Dr. Ravi Srinivasan, Assistant Professor of Low/Net Zero Energy Buildings, University of Florida.
