COURSE DESCRIPTION
Prerequisite: You must provide proof of having completed an EPA-approved AHERA/ASHARA Inspector Course prior to registration to be eligible for accreditation as a Management Planner. If your Asbestos: Inspector training was not at UF TREEO you must email a copy of your initial and last refresher certificates to our registrar, Kady Morris kadymorris@treeo.ufl.edu , to be verified before the class begins. The State of Florida now requires accreditation as an Asbestos Project Designer to become a Florida Licensed Asbestos Consultant. In addition F.S. 469.013 (1) (a) requires Asbestos Management Planners to have certification as an Asbestos Management Planner and Asbestos Project Designer. Accreditation in both disciplines is required to develop asbestos abatement schedules and operations and maintenance plans.
WHO SHOULD ATTEND
This course is for management planners who perform asbestos work in public and private K-12 schools and public and commercial buildings. In Florida, Asbestos Management Planners must work under the direction of a Florida Licensed Asbestos Consultant (LAC). Management planners are required by the EPA and the State of Florida to develop operations and maintenance plans. Inspectors cannot develop these plans. Detailed consideration is given to hazard assessment and selection of control options. Persons who plan to do asbestos work in other states should contact that state to verify that accreditation, licensure and other requirements are met.
