Description | COURSE DESCRIPTION This course is approved as initial training for Spotters at Solid Waste Facilities. Topics includes: Solid Waste Management Basics and Regulations, Environmental Concerns with Waste Handling Facilities, Screening for Prohibited Materials, Managing Special Wastes, Health and Safety. Daily morning and afternoon breaks are scheduled. On your own for lunch. Course is approved through June 2026
At the completion of the training the student should be able to discuss the basics of solid waste & operations; environmental concerns with waste handling facilities; screening for prohibited materials; and managing special waste. Participants must be present for entire course to receive continuing education credit and a Certificate of Attendance. There is not an exam associated with the course.Note- If participant is needing continuing education credits [CEUs] to maintain their active landfill operator training status, then they should probably take the refresher training (no exam). This course is Day 1, of the three-day course: Initial Training for Operators of Landfills and Waste Processing Facilities
